Dental Cleaning<\/strong><\/h1>\n

This treatment involves removing tartar and polishing the teeth and\/or molars. During the regular dental check-up, the dentist will examine your entire mouth. In addition to checking for cavities, we also assess the condition of your gums and check for the presence of tartar.<\/p>\n

We start by checking the condition of your gums. Based on the measurement, we assign a score to your gums, and depending on this score, we determine who is best suited to clean your teeth.<\/p>\n

Score 1: There may be some bleeding and tartar present, but the gums are still in good condition. If necessary, you will be scheduled for an appointment with the preventive assistant. She will remove the tartar, polish your teeth, and provide any instructions for self-care.<\/p>\n

Score 2: There is a slight deepening between the gums and the tooth or molar that can be measured. Plaque and bacteria can settle in these spaces. You will be scheduled for an appointment with the Paro-Preventive Assistant. She will thoroughly clean the areas between the teeth and gums, remove tartar, polish your teeth, and provide instructions on how to keep your mouth as clean as possible at home.<\/p>\n

Score 3: There are multiple significant spaces between the tooth and the gums. Plaque and bacteria have settled in these areas, causing irritation to the underlying bone. It is important that this be cleaned by a dental hygienist, and that you receive instructions on how to maintain optimal cleanliness at home. The dental hygienist will schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure the gums can heal and return to a healthy state.<\/p>\n

We try to combine tartar removal as much as possible with your check-up appointment. If the amount of tartar is significant or if there are gum issues, it may be recommended to schedule a separate appointment with the (paro) preventive assistant or dental hygienist.<\/p>\n

The depth of the spaces not only determines who will treat you but also which codes we need to declare. For example, the preventive assistant will calculate M-codes, while the paro-preventive assistant or dental hygienist will work with T-codes.
