Crowns and bridges

Crowns and bridges are an ideal solution if you are dealing with weakened or missing teeth.

When a tooth is filled, it is weakened. The larger the filling, the weaker the tooth. Sometimes the filling in a tooth or molar is so large that the risk of fracture is high. In such a case, the dentist can advise to protect the tooth by means of a crown. A crown is a sturdy cap that is placed over the tooth, so that the forces that the tooth has to endure are distributed and it will not break.

Nowadays, a crown is made entirely of tooth-colored material as standard. Only in a few cases is it necessary to use metal in the crown. The dentist will always discuss this with you first. To fill the space of a tooth that has been lost, you can choose to make a bridge here. A crown is then made on both sides of the missing tooth, to which a "floating" crown is attached to fill the space of the lost tooth or molar.
