Periodic check-up
We don’t just check for cavities, but also assess your brushing habits and provide advice for maintaining your oral health at home.
We don’t just check for cavities, but also evaluate your brushing habits and give advice on how to maintain your oral health at home.
During the periodic dental check-up, the dentist will examine your entire mouth. The teeth and molars will be checked for any cavities (decay) and/or wear, and the margins of existing restorations will also be assessed. The condition of your gums will be evaluated, and we will check for the presence of tartar. Additionally, the soft tissues, such as the tongue and cheeks, will be examined for visible abnormalities. You will typically have a check-up twice a year unless the dentist advises otherwise.
Routine X-rays will also be taken at regular intervals of two to three years. These images help us examine areas in the mouth that are not easily visible, allowing us to detect abnormalities and cavities early.
If a treatment is recommended during the check-up, we will schedule a follow-up appointment for it.
We try to combine tartar removal as much as possible with your check-up appointment. If there is a large amount of tartar or if there are gum issues, it may be recommended to schedule a separate appointment with the (periodontal) prevention assistant or dental hygienist.
