Prevention:
Good oral hygiene is important for general health. The dental hygienist helps prevent and combat gum problems. The dental hygienist will try to prevent dental problems in both children and adults by giving advice and information about gum disease, dietary habits, and the prevention of caries.
This is important so that you do not have to feel uncomfortable about bad breath, discoloration, buildup, or a bad taste.
Teeth cleaning:
During the periodic check-up at the dentist, your entire mouth is checked. The teeth and molars are checked for the presence of any caries (a cavity) and/or wear and tear, and the edge connections of existing restorations will also be checked. The condition of the gums will be determined and the presence of tartar will be checked. We also check the soft parts, such as the tongue and cheek. If there is tartar present, it must be removed because this causes inflammation of the gums.
We try to combine the dental cleaning, if possible, with your check-up appointment at the dentist. If the amount of tartar is large or there are gum problems, it may be advisable to make a separate appointment with the dental hygienist.
If you or your child has braces, it is important to pay extra attention to oral hygiene, and you may be advised to make an appointment with the dental hygienist.
Gum treatment:
If you suffer from inflamed gums, plaque or discoloration of the teeth, the dental hygienist can treat this for you. The choice for treatment by the dental hygienist can be a choice of your own or it can be because you have been referred by the dentist due to extensive gum inflammation (periodontitis).
Based on an examination, the dental hygienist will determine how extensive the gum inflammation is and a treatment plan will be made. The tartar will be removed and the root surfaces will be smoothed again.
At DentalCity we find it important that the treatment is performed as comfortably and painlessly as possible. We have special equipment with which we can perform the treatment as pleasantly as possible for you. If desired, we can perform the treatment under local anesthesia.
